From January 19 to 23, two of our staff members, together with a team of twelve young people from Mexico, were active on the campus of the well-known Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. Each day, a book table was set up on campus, both inside the university and outdoors. In freezing temperatures, students were offered the Book of Hope (New Testament) in English, German, and Swedish. Hot coffee was also served.
Many of the students came from all over the world, and for some it was their very first day at the university. There were many good conversations, numerous New Testaments were distributed, and there was opportunity to pray personally for some of the students. Along with the New Testaments, invitations were also handed out to English-language Bible studies at a local church in Gothenburg.
We are grateful that, as a mission organization, we were able to reach so many young people from all over the world with the gospel during this cold week in January.
A Bible in Every Home – in the Stockholm Region
We would like to distribute 1.4 million Bibles and 210,000 children’s Bibles throughout the greater Stockholm area. In this way, the saving message of Jesus is meant to reach every home, every family, and every heart.
Two containers with the Book of Hope (New Testament) have already arrived in Germany. This spring, many churches are diligently packing in preparation. Altogether, we expect that around one million New Testaments will be prepared for Stockholm in churches across Germany. Each bag will include contact cards with a website where local churches can be found. The Bibles will then be transported by a shipping company to Stockholm, Sweden.
Time and again, we receive reports from churches and individual Christians about what is happening through the distributed New Testaments.
This month, we received the wonderful news that two women in the Gothenburg area came to faith in Jesus through the Book of Hope, and that contact with local churches has also been established.
In addition, we learned that an inmate in a prison asked the prison chaplain to pray the prayer of commitment with him. He said that he was now ready to take this step. In the same prison, a female prison guard also asked the chaplain for a Book of Hope (New Testament). She began reading it and likewise made contact with a local church. On Sunday, January 25, she was baptized.
It is worthwhile to pass on the eternal Word of God to people. The Word is effective, and through it people find eternal life in Jesus Christ.
Thank you for your prayers and for standing with us in this important work of bringing the gospel to people.
At the moment, we are right in the middle of preparations for the large Bible distribution campaign in Stockholm. The campaign will begin at the end of March and is expected to continue until the end of September.
We are facing a significant financial challenge. Yet time and again we see how God sustains us as a small Bible mission organization. For February, we need approximately €70,000. This amount is for the printing costs of the New Testaments and the children’s Bibles. We are grateful for every small and large donation.
